Music and arts festival Vanfest draws thousands to the country every summer. 

This regional-based event was initially developed to support and strengthen youth culture and community tourism.

Our identity for Vanfest’s 2017 promotion evolved organically from its previous theme.

Pulling iconic colours from the 90s, we created a soft, bright palette that would be impossible for browsers and passers-by to miss. Progressing the sunset motif by bringing additional patterns to the fore, the design expels major pool party vibes as an attraction for young women – the festival’s main demographic.

The Icons

Updated illustrations include stylised figures and a vintage aeroplane, in addition to original tropical illustrations of a beach ball, flamingo and pineapple. Boasting a fun, flirty appeal that’s a little bit out-there, Vanfest’s visual identity is eye-catchingly irresistible.

The Process

Evolution of the brand's identity also explored a lush, Australiana theme inspired by the festival's rural location. Rustic textures and sunset tones naturally progressed to a more vibrant palette, better aligned with target market preferences. For 2017's full list of artists, check out our web design.
